1966 - 4th National Scout Jamboree.

The 4th National Scout Jamboree, held at Trentham near Wellington, was commemorated by the issue of a single stamp. A temporary Post Office was opened at the Jamboree and a special pictorial date stamp was used on opening day when some 26,000 covers were handled.  A plain date stamp without the Scout insignia was used after the first day.
4d - Official Jamboree Badge.

The official Jamboree badge with its arrowhead (rocket) motif, symbolic of progress, was incorporated into the stamp design  The panel surround also included sections of the traditional tukutuku panel design known as poutama, an ornamental pattern seen on the walls of Maori meeting houses.

This pair shows the gold colour completely missing on the right-hand stamp
and partly missing on the left-hand one.

 Special Covers.
Below are some First Day Covers for this issue.

Robert Baden-Powell - Founder of the scouting movement.
This cover carries the special First Day of Issue, with the scout's progress emblem,  used at the Jamboree Post Office on the first day when 26,000 covers got cancelled. This cover is also interesting in that it shows some other stamp featuring scouting, two of which can be seen further down this post.
An official First Day Cover cancelled in Auckland.

A rather ordinary cover showing a badge cancelled in Wellington. In fact nowhere on this cover does it say anything about scouting, except on the stamps themselves.

The theme was "Progress" as can be seen on this cover. Notice, on these two Wellington covers, that they made up the overseas postage by using a pair of the Jamboree stamps.

Later that month Auckland International Airport was opened.
A special cover was used, in this case with a Jamboree stamp.

Other Scouting Stamps.

Three other stamps featuring Scouts. On the left are the two stamps from the 1953 Health Issue showing 1½d - Girl Guides Marching & 2d - Boy Scouts Camping. On the right is the stamp for the Pan-Pacific Jamboree of 1959.

The Girls & Boys Brigade was a similar organisation.
They were featured in the 1958 Health Issue.

Below is a block of 12 stamps that I thought looked rather impressive.
