Counterpart, Denoting, Fine Paid, Mortgagee's Indemnity and Not Liable stamps

New Zealand fiscal and postage stamps were overprinted for various revenue purposes. Some are given below. Counterpart Counterpart stamps were attached to duplicate (i.e. counterpart) documents provided that the full stamp duty had been paid on the original. The counterpart fee was 2s 6d. The first issue was in 1870 and the design was Die I of the 1867 Revenue issue. The stamp on the left is Die II and was issued in 1880. In 1887, stamps were issued in the design of the revenue stamps of 1880, but with the word Counterpart in rather small letters above the value as in the example on the below. In 1916 the fee was increased to 3s 0d and ordinary revenue stamps were overprinted diagonally in black although special printings were made as the colour was always yellow. It exists both perf 14 and perf 14½x14. In 1927, the George V 3s 0d Admiral stamp was printed on Cowan paper, perf 14, in orange yellow and overprin...

Modern use of the Full Faced Queen design.

This is the last post in my series on Full-Faced Queens, New Zealand's first postal stamp issue.
Over the years the Full-Face Queen design has been reused a number of times as New Zealand has marked various anniversaries since their first issue. They have appeared, either as copies of the original stamps or with the design updated with more modern content.

1955 Centennial of Postage Stamps in New Zealand.
There were three stamps in this issue but we are only interested in the 4d value in this post.  In this case the original design was updated with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II instead of Queen Victoria. Since New Zealand was still using the old Sterling currency the value could still be written as "THREE PENCE" rather than the more common 3d.

1980 125th Anniversary of New Zealand Postage Stamps.
Three stamps commemorating the 125th anniversary of the first New Zealand stamp issue featured reproductions of the first New Zealand stamps depicting Queen Victoria. Each of these stamps also appeared on the 2 miniature sheets were issued at the same  time.

Two Penny Blue - 14c.                                                          One Shilling Green - 14c.

One Penny Red - 14c.

The first miniature sheet, shown above, was for general sale as part of this set while the second, seen below, was for the Zeapex International Stamp Exhibition.

In 1980 I attended the Zeapex Exhibition held in a downtown Auckland convention centre. Of course this centre is gone now, replaced by a large modern office block. It was the first Exhibition I had every been too and I was amazed at the standard of the completion. I also remember seeing the stamps displays, on loan from the Royal Collection, send out to New Zealand for display at this exhibition.

1988 Centenary of the Royal Philatelic Society of New Zealand.
This centenary was marked with two stamps depicting Queen Elizabeth II and a miniature sheet depicting the 'Chalon' portrait of Queen Victoria which the original Full-Faced Design was based on. The sheet features a $1 stamp which shows the Queen's head and shoulders, similar to what was depicted on the stamps as can be seen on the example bottom left.

2005 150 Years of New Zealand Stamps.
This set of stamps marks 150 years of New Zealand stamps. The 15 value series traces the history from a 1855 Full-Faced Queen to 2003 NZ Test Rugby. The set was issued in three parts, 2nd March, 6th April & 1st June 2005. Below I have included the original stamp and the same stamp as it appeared in this issue.
