Counterpart, Denoting, Fine Paid, Mortgagee's Indemnity and Not Liable stamps

New Zealand fiscal and postage stamps were overprinted for various revenue purposes. Some are given below. Counterpart Counterpart stamps were attached to duplicate (i.e. counterpart) documents provided that the full stamp duty had been paid on the original. The counterpart fee was 2s 6d. The first issue was in 1870 and the design was Die I of the 1867 Revenue issue. The stamp on the left is Die II and was issued in 1880. In 1887, stamps were issued in the design of the revenue stamps of 1880, but with the word Counterpart in rather small letters above the value as in the example on the below. In 1916 the fee was increased to 3s 0d and ordinary revenue stamps were overprinted diagonally in black although special printings were made as the colour was always yellow. It exists both perf 14 and perf 14½x14. In 1927, the George V 3s 0d Admiral stamp was printed on Cowan paper, perf 14, in orange yellow and overprin

New Zealand Wine Post 2020 - 2029

Stamps and many of the items found on these pages can be purchased from:-

This is the fourth part of our New Zealand Wine Post collection, taking us through the fourth 10 years. This collection is incomplete and needs a lot more work in some areas but we've decided to open it for viewing as we continue adding new items and completing further sections.

The Wine Post, also known as New Zealand Wine Post, is a privately owned postal service in New Zealand. It is operated by Weston Winery New Zealand, which is the World's Most Southern Winery and acts as its only post office. The Wine Post began issuing its own postage in 1990. It is one of the many independent posts of New Zealand which has a deregulated postal environment. The Wine Post stamps are for their domestic and international postage for their own winery.

2020 - Women in aviation specimen overprint colour trial.

This a trial design for an "emergency postage" stamp during the COVID 19 pandemic. The design was dropped due to there being not enough time to develop it. Some might say that it doesn't appear particularly relevant to New Zealand.
Above is the basic design with a $10 value while below is a $20 value with two trials of a COVID overprint.

2020 Emergency Postage.

New Zealand Wine Post 2020 Emergency stamp with black 'COVID'  overprint used in level 4. All mail carriers were designated as 'essential' services during this emergency and continued to deliver their mail outside the restrictions of lockdown levels. (New Zealand is still on level 1 ). Because there was not enough time to develop a new design at this point, the artwork for the Dunedin Wine Festival was used and the colour changed to red with a yellow sun. When full lockdown level 4 was decreed by the New Zealand Government the black COVID overprint was used on this stamp.
