Adhesive Stamps.                                          Gummed Stamps.

The 2019 Scenic Definitives were issued to accommodate this year’s postal rate increase and are available in a range of gummed and self-adhesive options. They also include a re-issue of the 2016 Scenic Definitives Dunedin Railway Station stamp.


As with most recent definitive issues, this issue included both gummed and self-adhesive stamps. The gummed stamps being issued in full sheets of 50 stamps and the adhesives being issued in booklets of five stamps. 



The Gummed Stamps.

$2.60 - Escarpment Walkway, Paekakariki.
Clinging to the hillside, this coastal trail is made up of steep staircases, narrow paths and swing bridges. Walkers are rewarded by its stunning outlook over an expansive seascape, with Kāpiti Island to the north and the Marlborough Sounds to the south.

$3.90 - Banks Peninsula, Canterbury.
This formerly volcanic peninsula juts from the Canterbury coast between Pegasus Bay and the Canterbury Bight. It encompasses two large harbours and numerous bays and coves teeming with marine wildlife, including the world's smallest and rarest dolphin.

$4.50 - Shotover River Valley, Otago.
A former hub of the gold rush, Shotover River is still a destination for small-time gold seekers, but today is primarily used for commercial jet boating and white-water rafting.

$3.30 - Dunedin Railway Station. (Adhesive)
Designed by Sir George Troup, this visually striking building was opened in 1906 and is designed in the Flemish Renaissance style. At the height of the station’s popularity, it handled up to 100 trains per day.

Paper type: Gummed: Tullis Russell 104gsm red phosphor gummed stamp paper; Self-adhesive: Tullis Russell 220gms PSA red phosphor stamp paper.
The number of stamps per sheet: 50.
The number of stamps per booklet: 5.
Perforation gauge: Gummed: 13.33 x 13.60; Self-adhesive: die cut.
Period of sale: Unless stocks are exhausted earlier, these stamps will remain on sale until further notice. The first-day cover will remain on sale until 31 July 2019.
