Counterpart, Denoting, Fine Paid, Mortgagee's Indemnity and Not Liable stamps

New Zealand fiscal and postage stamps were overprinted for various revenue purposes. Some are given below. Counterpart Counterpart stamps were attached to duplicate (i.e. counterpart) documents provided that the full stamp duty had been paid on the original. The counterpart fee was 2s 6d. The first issue was in 1870 and the design was Die I of the 1867 Revenue issue. The stamp on the left is Die II and was issued in 1880. In 1887, stamps were issued in the design of the revenue stamps of 1880, but with the word Counterpart in rather small letters above the value as in the example on the below. In 1916 the fee was increased to 3s 0d and ordinary revenue stamps were overprinted diagonally in black although special printings were made as the colour was always yellow. It exists both perf 14 and perf 14½x14. In 1927, the George V 3s 0d Admiral stamp was printed on Cowan paper, perf 14, in orange yellow and overprin...

2021 NZ Post

In 2021 NZ Post brought CourierPost, Pace and Rural Post under the single banner of NZ Post, with a new logo and refreshed visual identity. The new NZ Post logo is a symbol consisting of a circle, intersected by two parallel lines to form a unique stylised ‘P’, evocative of roads, tracks, and networks. The new deep blue, partnered with the historical red amplify in concert to create something familiar, yet distinctive. NZ Post has spent 15 million dollars on the rebrand, which many criticize.

In these six collectable stamps, released to celebrate the new visual identity, the designers have reinterpreted the new NZ Post logo’s forms and colours to create a series that represents connection, movement and energy.

  1. It's almost two years to the day of this post - the last I can see in this blog. What's happened to Alan & co. ? Are you guys still around? Keen to connect if you are and find out what's happening to these pages. Cheers! Neilmac

    1. Hello Neilmac,

Thank you for your comment. I apologise for the late reply, I am quite inactive now.

My name is Arie, I am the new site owner (been new owner for two year). Alan and the others have now "abandoned" this blog, as they have other interests in other blogs.

I made the hard decision to not anymore posts on general new issues, as all of that information can be found on NZ Post's website. I am more focused on maintaining/archiving what has been posted so far.

      Regards,
      Arie

  4. Thanks Arie. Are you interested in passing on/selling the blog? I am an avid collector and enthusiast and I was going to start my own NZ stamp blog, but if you're interested in letting me take over this one, it beats me starting from scratch. Please email me neilmcgregor63@gmail.com Thanks!
